Privacy Policy

Who we are: Scripture Typer is a Christian family typing tutor whose practice text is built on Scripture. It is operated by Millennial Apps, LLC. You can reach us any time through our contact form.

We wrote this in plain language on purpose. The short version: parents give us a little; kids give us nothing directly; we sell data to no one.

This policy covers our website (scripturetyper.com) and our Mac app, Scripture Typer for Mac. The Mac app shows the same service as the website, signed in with the same account.

1. What we collect

From parents (the only account holders):

• Account: email address and a password (stored by our authentication provider; we never see your password).
• Billing, if you subscribe on our website: payment is handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. We keep your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers.
• Billing, if you subscribe in the Mac app: payment is handled by Apple through In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your card details or your Apple ID. Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase, and we keep the transaction identifiers, the product, the subscription status, renewal and expiry dates, whether it will renew, the App Store country, and a random identifier that links the purchase to your family account.
• Support messages you send us.

About each learner profile a parent creates:

• A display name the parent types (a first name or nickname is all we need), a picked avatar and color, a coarse age band (early elementary / upper elementary / teen), and an optional daily practice goal.
• A 4-digit practice PIN, stored only as a one-way hash.
• Typing-practice statistics: per-key and key-pair speed/accuracy measurements, lesson scores, streaks, XP, and badges — all derived from typing the Bible verses and drills we display. The typing engine never records free-form writing by your child, and verse practice itself runs entirely on your device (no keystroke leaves the page mid-verse; results sync at lesson boundaries).

What we do not collect about children: no email, phone number, address, birth date, photos, audio, location, or messages. Children cannot create accounts, cannot enter anything but their PIN and their typing practice, and have no way to submit personal information to us.

Automatically, on our servers (website only): basic product analytics about how the website is used — for example, that a lesson was started or finished, with its speed, accuracy and duration, or that memory mode or a private network was used. These events are recorded under the parent's household. Some of them also carry a random learner-profile code (a meaningless identifier, never a name) so we can tell one learner profile's practice from another's. They never contain names, email addresses, or anything typed. We do not record them for activity in the Mac app.

Automatically, on the website only: the website also reports which pages and features are used, from your browser, tied to the parent's account. On our public marketing pages (not inside the signed-in app), a Google Ads tag measures whether our ads lead to sign-ups.

In the Mac app: no analytics. The app runs no third-party analytics or advertising code (the website's in-browser analytics is switched off there), and our servers do not record the analytics described above for Mac app activity. The app keeps your sign-in and any not-yet-synced practice results on your Mac so practice can continue offline. It reads your Mac's keyboard layout (for example, US or ISO) only to label the on-screen keyboard correctly.

2. How we use it

To run the product: serve lessons, adapt difficulty to each learner's typing statistics, show parents their children's progress, run family and network leaderboards, process subscriptions, send parents service email (receipts, optional weekly progress digests), and keep the service secure. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we show no third-party advertising.

3. Children's privacy (COPPA)

The product is built so that all child data flows through a parent:

• Only a parent account can create, edit, or delete a learner profile.
• The only people who can see a child's name and stats are the child's own household — and, only if the parent chooses to join a private network with other families, those approved families' parents and kids see the display name and weekly effort scores on a shared leaderboard. Parents control joining and can leave at any time; network membership is approved family-by-family by the network's creator.
• There is no chat, no public profile, no stranger interaction anywhere.

Parents may review everything we hold about a learner (it is all visible on the parent dashboard), correct it (rename or edit the profile), or delete it (deleting a learner removes all of that learner's data). Parents can also delete the whole account themselves at any time (see section 5). Our detailed COPPA documentation is available on request.

4. Who processes data for us

Each processes data only to provide its service to us. Apple handles Mac app purchases under Apple's own privacy policy.

5. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself on the Account page. In the Mac app, choose Delete Account… from the Scripture Typer menu. We ask for your password and a typed confirmation first.

When the household owner deletes the account, we permanently delete:

• the login and the household;
• every learner profile and all of their progress: lessons, typing statistics, streaks, XP, badges, and race results;
• the parent PIN and household settings;
• private networks the household created, with their invite links (other families in them will no longer see them);
• other parents' access to the household (their own logins stay).

A co-parent who deletes their own login removes only that login, their membership, and any networks they created; the family's household stays.

Subscriptions: deleting the account cancels a subscription bought on our website right away, so it will not renew. It cannot cancel a subscription bought in the Mac app: only you can do that, in the App Store under your account's Subscriptions. The Account page reminds you before you delete.

What we keep: purchase records (the purchaser's email and name if given, what was bought, the payment provider's identifiers, and dates) are kept for accounting and tax purposes, no longer linked to any household or learner. Stripe and Apple keep their own payment records under their own policies. Security and support logs may keep an account identifier or email address for a limited time.

On your device, the website or Mac app clears its saved sign-in, unsynced practice results, and cached lessons when the deletion finishes.

6. Retention

Your data lives as long as your account does. Deleting a learner deletes all of that learner's data immediately. Deleting an account deletes the data described in section 5. Database backups age out on our provider's rolling schedule, after which deleted data is gone from them too.

7. Security

Row-level security isolates every household's data at the database layer (independently tested — hundreds of automated isolation probes run on every change). PINs are bcrypt-hashed; PIN and account-deletion endpoints are rate-limited; payment notifications from Stripe and Apple are signature-verified. No system is perfect; if a breach affects your data we will notify you as the law requires.

8. Scripture text

Practice texts are public-domain Bible translations (BSB, WEB, ASV, BBE, KJV). The KJV is in the public domain in the United States; in the United Kingdom it remains subject to Crown rights administered by the Crown's patentee — see our Terms of Service for the full notice.

9. Your choices and rights

Parents can edit or delete learner profiles, delete the whole account, and unsubscribe from digest emails via the link in any digest. To ask for a copy of your data, or with any privacy question, use our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state or national privacy laws; contact us and we will help.

10. Changes

We will post changes here and, for material changes, email account holders before they take effect.
