A typing tutor, first. The guided curriculum begins with posture and home position, introduces keys in small groups, and builds toward words, punctuation, references, editing, and full passages. What makes it different is the material: Scripture remains visible throughout practice, and learned-key finales never require a letter the learner has not reached. Repeated, accurate typing can deepen familiarity with a passage, and completed verses can be replayed with words fading as an optional memory challenge. We describe that as Scripture practice, not a guarantee that every learner will memorize every verse.
The app keeps statistics on how quickly and accurately each learner types every key and common two-letter combination. Once the lowercase foundation is available, weaker keys and letter pairs can return in short, scheduled word reviews. Those words come from the selected Bible translation and use only characters learned by that course position. The parent dashboard shows the same evidence as accuracy, net-WPM trends, and a weak-key heatmap. The main lesson sequence remains structured and parent-adjustable; personalized review supplements it instead of making unsupported promises about a completely unique course path.
Net words per minute — speed with mistakes subtracted. Many programs headline raw speed because the number is bigger. We think a typing report a parent might put in a homeschool portfolio should mean what it says, so net WPM is the only headline number anywhere in the app.
Parents choose one Bible translation for the whole household. The Berean Standard Bible (BSB) is the default, and the World English Bible (WEB), King James Version (KJV), American Standard Version (ASV), and Bible in Basic English (BBE) are also fully indexed and bundled. We use public-domain translations so complete Bibles can be available for offline practice without per-verse limits.
Structurally, not with filters. There are no ads — your subscription is the whole business model. Learner profiles do not sign up, enter an email, or submit personal details. The account owner creates each profile with a display name or nickname, an avatar from our palette, and a 4-digit PIN. Races and leaderboards are family-only unless the account owner joins a network, and we never collect a learner’s photo, birth date, location, or free-form writing. For learners under 13, this structure supports COPPA’s parental-consent requirement: every piece of profile information comes from an adult inside an account that adult owns and manages.
A network is a private group for a co-op, church, or circle of friends. Only an account owner can create one, joining happens through an invite link, and the network creator must approve each family before it appears — there is no public directory and no way for strangers to find your learners. Approved families see a private leaderboard showing each learner’s display name and effort-based numbers (weekly practice points and net-WPM gains, so a 7-year-old can win the week fair and square against a 12-year-old). Nothing else about your family is shared, and learner profiles can only look at the board — every social decision belongs to an account owner.
Yes — fully. Scripture Typer installs as an app on your computer or tablet, and the lessons, drill generator, and complete Scripture text are stored on the device. A learner can practice an entire session offline; results wait safely and sync exactly once when the connection returns.
