Do you have your own blog or website? Now you can show memory verses in your side panel with the Scripture Memory Widget. After you add it to your blog, you'll be asked to choose between two display modes. 1. Always display random verses 2. Always display the last verse I memorized See a sample at the top right of this page. Clicking a verse title will take you to the screen to memorize the verse. If a visitor to your blog clicks it, they will be able to memorize the verse without even having to create an account. I'm hoping this tool will help many people get hooked on scripture memory.

1. Create an account on ScriptureTyper.com. This may seem obvious, but for those of you who have not yet created an account, the email reminders and customizable review plan are only available once you sign in. Your account will also track all of the verses you memorize and your progress, keeping statistics on the number of verses and passages you've memorized, as well as tracking your typing speed.
2. Speak it while you type it. There's great power in speaking the word of God. Try to speak and feel the scriptures while you are typing them. This will greatly enhance your understanding of the word, and help you to retain and memorize scriptures faster!
3. Type It, Memorize It, Master It. Use this progression every time you take on a new verse. Don't frustrate yourself by trying to type without looking when a verse is brand new to you. Type the verse once, then stay on Memorize It until you get it checked off. Now Master It a few times until you feel comfortable with the verse.
4. Review, Review, Review. This has always been the secret to long-term Bible memory, and Scripture Typer makes it easy. After you've memorized a few verses, select Review from the Scripture Memory menu. You'll see a color coded listing of all the verses you've successfully memorized. Clicking the Review Now link will take you through any verses that need review, one by one, starting with those that need it most.
5. Chose the right verses. Now don't hear me wrong, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" It is, however, much easier to memorize a verse that is impacting your heart here and now. You know, like that verse that touched you as the pastor spoke last week, or the one that your friend prayed over you, or the one that you started to pray, but couldn't quite remember the whole thing. "Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances."  Be ready to jot down verse references throughout your day so you'll be able to add them to your verse library.  Or better yet, get the new iPhone app so you can enter them right there on the spot.

Question: How do the tests work?

Answer:

1. Click a test type to start (type it, memorize it, or master it) Note: 'Type it' is not actually a test, but this is where you get familiar with a verse and your average typing speed is calculated.
2. Type out the entire verse including the reference. You can turn off the option to type the reference from your User Profile page. Mistakes don't count against you, but you must type every word correctly before proceeding. This includes capitalization and punctuation.
3. Once you finish it will automatically jump to a screen that tells you your results. The test will not end until you type the last character of the verse, which could be a period, question mark, quotation mark, etc...
4. If you typed the verse at a speed of 80% of your average typing speed, then it will give you a red check indicating that you have memorized the verse. (this only goes for the memorize it & master it steps) If you type in your own verses, be sure everything is spelled and punctuated correctly. The tests require you to type the verse exactly as you entered it.

Question: I forgot my password! What do I do?  

Answer: We now have a password recovery feature right on the login form. Just click I Forgot It! and enter your email address. We'll send a new password to your email address. The password will be pretty cryptic, so be sure to change it to something more memorable from your profile page once you get signed in.  

Question: I'd like to get my kids on Scripture Typer but they don't have e-mail

Answer: For your kids, I recommend setting up a free e-mail account for each of them that you maintain control of (i.e. don't give them the password).  Use that e-mail account to create a scripturetyper account which they can have the password to.  GMail is probably the easiest place to set up an account.  Here's a direct link:
